Here's the Pregame Press Release for tonight's game from the Phantoms site.
I can't believe that out of the 12 times we face Hershey this season, SIX of those meetings will take place in the month of November. Considering the number of times we see this team, why couldn't the schedule be a bit more balanced than that? This is no way to foster a rivalry, particularly not in this "One Last Hurrah" year that the Organ-Eye-Zation is touting at every available opportunity.
On the other hand, the scheduling quirks fall squarely on the shoulders of the AHL, IMO. I'm sure that neither Hershey nor the Phantoms want to forego the ticket sales of the road-tripping fans, and as such they wouldn't want said fans to get fed up with seeing the same opponent repeatedly all month long. If the travelling fans find the schedule too monotonous, chances are they'll skip some of those November road trips, and the ticket sales will take a hit as a result.
Speaking of road trips, there'll be a contingent of Phantoms Season Ticket Holders on hand for tomorrow's game in Hershey, courtesy of the Phantoms' Early Bird bus trip. But I'm getting ahead of myself... there'll be plenty of posting about tomorrow's game tomorrow. :)
